Jay-Z Slays It At iHeartRadio With The Greatest Hits of His Career

Jay-Z closed out the first night of the iHeartRadio Music Festival with a killer performance featuring the greatest hits of his career.Fellow iHeartRadio performer Alicia Keys joined Jay on stage for their hit “Empire State of Mind” making the crowd go wild!Day one of the iHeartRadio Music Festival was full of exciting performances, from The Black Eyed Peas' opening notes of 'Boom Boom Pow' to Jay-Z bringing down the house. But the highlight of their performance was Fergie - who looked gorgeous in sparkling boots, booty shorts and a bedazzled denim jacket.Ryan Seacrest introduced the original 'American Idol,' Kelly Clarkson, who took the stage barefoot and sounded awesome performing Kelly classics like 'Since You Been Gone' in addition to her new single, 'Mr. Know It All.'Bruno Mars followed Kelly Clarkson, who kicked off his performance with a ska-like rendition of 'The Lazy Song' before launching into his biggest hits 'Grenade' and 'Just The Way You Are.' But the highlight of Bruno's set came at the very end, when he revisited his MTV VMA performance with heartfelt tribute to Amy Winehouse. He performed 'Valerie' and had the crowd singing along 'We Love You Amy.' Bruno never ceases to entertain!After Bruno, Joe Jonas introduced Carrie Underwood, who turned up the heat with sparkly shorts, a new 'do (she was rockin' some flirty bangs!) and the sassy songs she's known and loved for. 'I would have given anything a few ago to see a show like this,' Carrie admitted to the crowd. She performed 'Cowboy Casanova,' 'Undo It,' 'Last Name' and 'Before He Cheats' all as part of her set.Shifting gears after the country sweetheart, YouTube sensation Karmin took the stage and performed Nicki Minaj's 'Superbass.' Elvis Duran introduced the duo, and revealed that they postponed their wedding especially for the event! Now THAT is true dedication.Carrie Underwood reappeared on stage to introduce Jane's Addiction, who rocked the house. Perry Farrell performed with a bottle of wine in hand, and the band closed their set with what has perhaps become their most memorable song: 'Jane Says.'Coldplay took the stage next, in the most colorful performance of the night. They mixed Coldplay standards like 'Clocks' and 'Fix You' with music from their new album. Chris Martin expressed the honor he felt to be performing at the MGM Grand Garden Arena after having performed in Vegas many years ago at 3 a.m. to a much less adoring crowd. Coldplay closed their set with 'Every Teardrop is a Waterfall,' and the applause following their performance was deafening.Alicia Keys followed Coldplay, and the new mom looked and sounded gorgeous! She played "Empire State of Mind Part II" at the piano, which had the crowd hopeful that Jay-Z would join her. But Alicia ended her set with no Hov cameo, only to return to perform "Empire State of Mind" with him. New York, meet Las Vegas!Jay-Z closed the show with what could easily be called 'The Best of Jay-Z' - and the crowd was on it's feet for the entire set. He brought down the house with an incredible high-energy medley, from '99 Problems' to 'Encore,' with Memphis Bleek joining him on stage.It all goes down again tomorrow night, same time, same place. The Saturday line-up includes Jennifer Lopez, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Steven Tyler, David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, Sublime with Rome and Lady Gaga.
